Postpartum & Perinatal Counseling
Pregnancy and postpartum can leave mothers feeling isolated, alone, and beyond anxious.
Perinatal and postpartum counseling can help you navigate these issues as you learn to give yourself compassion and understanding.
Paralyzing fear that something bad is going to happen to your baby, feeling constantly on edge, and that you aren’t a good enough mother are common feelings for both first-time and experienced mothers. But they don’t have to rule your life.
Infertility Counseling
Most of us spend our lives trying not to get pregnant until we decide to try and then are hit with obstacles. Unless you’ve had a previous diagnosis or pre-existing condition, nobody expects to face infertility challenges. Therapy can be essential in supporting you through this time by providing a sounding board, and support system as you navigate the what if’s and fears of what the future might look like.
Pregnancy Counseling
Wouldn’t it be great if pregnancy was all the butterflies and rainbows that you see on social media? Pregnancy isn’t easy for most. It comes with not only a physical toll but a large mental weight too. It doesn’t matter if you’re becoming a first-time mom and navigating how to be the parent you want to be, or are having your fourth child and feeling riddled with anxiety.
During your pregnancy, your Empowerment Within therapist will support you in getting your mind and body to calm as much as they can. You’ll learn to navigate the uncertainty of what is going to come next and how to find moments of joy.
Using different techniques to support you in pregnancy – skill building, DBT, nervous system regulation skills, and Brainspotting to name a few – our goal is to provide a place where your anxieties are normalized and support and relief are given.
Postpartum Counseling
Your body can take years to fully heal from birth. Your mind sometimes feels the same. There is a huge identity shift that happens after having a baby. Suddenly it might feel like your world has closed in and all you can think about is your baby.
Fear can be paralyzing, trying to ensure that nothing bad ever happens can consume your life. Sometimes this hits right away in postpartum, other times it can take months or longer.
Whatever part of postpartum you are in – know that your anxiety doesn’t have to rule your life. Postpartum therapy helps you navigate the uncertainty, enjoy your child more, and learn to live your life again.
Individual Therapy and Online Therapy Sessions
Individual Therapy: Our experienced therapists provide one-on-one counseling sessions where you can explore your thoughts, feelings, and concerns in a safe and non-judgmental space. We offer evidence-based therapies, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Brainspotting to help you develop healthy coping mechanisms and manage stress. Sometimes this work is also about resolving old childhood wounds so you can be who you want to be as a parent.
Online Therapy: We understand that finding time for therapy can be challenging when you have a newborn or are adjusting to life as a new parent. Our online therapy sessions allow you to access support from the comfort of your home, at a time that works for you.
