About April Alsum
You know yourself pretty well. You can name your patterns, identify your triggers, and explain exactly why you do what you do. You've probably tried therapy before. Maybe more than once. You've done the worksheets, learned the tools, practiced the skills.
And yet — something still feels stuck.
That's not a failure. That's actually really important information.
April works with people who think deeply and feel deeply. The ones who are self-aware, reflective, and genuinely motivated to understand themselves — but keep hitting a wall they can't seem to think their way through. If your brain never fully shuts off, if you're constantly analyzing and still not finding relief, if you're functioning on the outside but something feels unresolved underneath — April works with exactly that.
A lot of the people April works with carry wounds that go way back. Childhood experiences, family expectations, religious messaging, cultural pressure — the kinds of things that shaped how you see yourself before you even had words for it. Especially that quiet, persistent belief that you're just not quite good enough. That one has a way of running the show long after you've intellectually decided it isn't true.
That's where EMDR comes in. Rather than adding more strategies on top of what you're already carrying, EMDR goes underneath — gently processing the memories and experiences that are still living in your nervous system, still carrying emotional weight, still showing up in your relationships and your sense of self. April also weaves in parts work, which helps you get curious about the anxious part, the overachieving part, the people-pleasing part — and understand what they've been trying to protect you from, instead of fighting them.
April's style is direct, a little humorous, and genuinely collaborative. She'll be real with you. She'll also make sure you don't take yourself so seriously that the work stops being livable. Sessions move at a pace that feels safe — not rushed, not surface-level.
You don't need more tools to manage your life. You need space to actually move through what's been sitting underneath it.
If something still feels unfinished, this might be the work you've been looking for.
